In order to support the commercial sector and businesses, the Quebec government and the Société de l’assurance automobile du Québec are announcing the deferral of payment of the amounts required to maintain the right to circulate for commercial vehicles and cabs until September1, 2020. The 5-month payment deferral will enable companies to retain close to $165 million in liquid assets.
The companies targeted by this measure are owners of vehicles for which the amounts due are due on March 31, 2020 or April 30, 2020 and whose vehicles are registered as follows:
- Cabs (T plate);
- Commercial vehicles (F plate).
Companies wishing to benefit from this deferral must :
- contact their financial institution to request a halt to pre-authorized debits (PADs) or request cancellation of their payment cheque issued in the name of the Company;
- go to saaq.gouv.qc.ca/online-services/companies/payment-deferral-form/ and complete the Commercial Registration Deferral form if the previous action is impossible or for any other situation;
- send the form to sae.report.entreprise@saaq.gouv.qc.ca in order to facilitate and accelerate the processing of each request, answer queries and ensure a personalized approach to this particular transaction.
If the above-mentioned companies have already paid the amounts due, they can benefit from this measure by going to saaq.gouv.qc.ca/services-en-ligne/entreprises/formulaire-de-report-de-paiement/ and completing the Commercial Registration Deferral form.
Once the form has been received, an agent will contact them to complete the transaction within a few weeks.
During this 5-month period, the registration will be valid and no interest will be charged. Police officers and traffic controllers have been informed of this and an administrative tolerance will be applied.
Companies opting for deferral will be contacted in September for their payment reminder.
Finally, the company invites businesses to store vehicles that will not be used before their expiry date to benefit from maximum savings on storage via the company’s website: saaq.gouv.qc.ca/services-en-ligne/entreprises.
