Ministère des Finances makes adjustments to the QST system

The ministère des Finances is making adjustments to the QST regime to bring it into line with the e-commerce changes proposed in the April 19 federal budget.

In addition, in order to simplify the QST registration process for persons who will be affected by the new e-commerce rules, it is proposed to reduce the amount of prescribed information that must be submitted to the Minister by these persons to the extent that they are already registered for the general GST/HST regime.

In addition, during the 12-month period following the date of application of the new e-commerce provisions, Revenu Québec will work closely with affected businesses and platform operators to help them meet their obligations.

“Quebec is taking action on e-commerce taxation, and we’re pleased to see the federal government following suit. The harmonization announced today will simplify administrative procedures for businesses so that they can comply with tax rules, and this is in everyone’s interest.”

Eric Girard, Quebec Finance Minister
