NPO: OHS financial assistance

New financial assistance for NPOs to support occupational health and safety (OHS) programs

Recently launched by the CNESST, the PAOSST (Programme d’aide financière aux associations et aux organismes pour des projets de formation et d’information en santé et sécurité au travail) financial assistance program for associations and organizations for occupational health and safety training and information projects, is designed in particular to help non-profit organizations (NPOs) comply with their occupational health and safety obligations.

The projects submitted must enable interventions aimed at improving understanding and knowledge of occupational health and safety laws and regulations, as well as their application, in order to help foster healthy workplaces that respect physical and mental health.

Up to $100,000 a year

Under this program, organizations or associations whose projects are selected will be eligible for financial assistance of up to $100,000 per year.

Eligibility criteria :

  • be a non-profit association or organization legally constituted under Quebec or Canadian law
  • have been legally constituted for at least 1 year on the date the application is submitted
  • have its head office and principal place of business in Québec
  • hold a valid Québec business number
  • be governed by a Board of Directors
  • comply with the requirements of the Charter of the French Language concerning the francization of businesses, or be exempt from them
  • be absent from the Register of Companies Not Eligible for Public Contracts (RENA)
  • have fulfilled its obligations to the CNESST, in particular when a previous grant was awarded under financial assistance programs under the CNESST’s responsibility
  • be free of debt to the CNESST, unless he has entered into a reimbursement agreement and complies with it
  • maintain these eligibility conditions throughout the term of the financial assistance agreement
